ROLE SUMMARY
This role will lead and deliver the Psychology programme and mental health strategy for Boccia UK, providing effective performance focused support to athletes and their coaches. The support will maximise the opportunity for success at the Paralympic Games by supporting senior athletes to develop the mental skills to win in Tokyo. The psychologist will evolve the development of a high-performance training and competition environment and promote positive mental health, working closely with the Performance Director, Head of Performance Support and Performance Coaches.
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
Work with the Head of Performance Support, Technical Lead Psychologist and identified NGB staff improve performance through developing, implementing and evaluating psychology services.
- Proactively deliver performance focused psychological services to athletes which develops and consolidates consistent performance behaviours through the effective use of psychological support
- Deliver psychological services to athletes to promote positive mental health, enhance psychological wellbeing and support athlete welfare
- Support coaches by aligning psychological services with the coaching and training programmes of these athletes.
- Use expertise in the field of psychology to advise the Boccia UK Senior Leadership Team on the cultural development of Boccia UK WCP.
- Use expertise in the field of psychology to advise the Performance Team on building effective working relationships with athletes and coaches.
- Contribute psychological expertise to performance-impacting multi-disciplinary team projects and support work with coaches, support staff and athletes.
- Ensure that the delivery of the psychology service effectively meets its commitments to athletes, coaches and National Governing Bodies including appropriate training objectives.
- Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches
- Where appropriate, attend, contribute to and provide regular reports at appropriate meetings associated with the programme and to key stakeholders including other EIS colleagues and NGB staff
- Contribute to knowledge development, aggregation and sharing across the organisation to support the development of world class psychology services and the high-performance system #CollectiveBrilliance.
